Bikram, Vinyasa, and Yin Teacher
When yoga found Kathleen 11 years ago, she was perpetually stressed, struggling to find herself, and developed some negative patterns that were no longer serving her. Luckily, she found a home at Hot Yoga Charlottesville where she could dive into a daily yoga practice and ‘start from scratch.’
Kathleen attended Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Spring of 2013 and truly had the time of her life. Afterwards, she moved to RVA to begin the Master’s of Social Work program at VCU and continued to teach and practice at Hot Yoga Richmond. Since graduation, she has been working as a school social worker in Chesterfield County Schools where she assists youth and families with special education services, mental health needs, and linking to community resources. She’s currently in supervision towards her licensure in clinical social work. The lessons she learns on her mat as a teacher and student inspire her as a social worker, and her experience as a social worker informs her teaching and practice. You might hear her sharing a story during savasana from time to time ;)
Four years ago, Kathleen began to integrate vinyasa and yin yoga into her practice, mainly for the sake of improving advanced postures. However, she found freedom and creativity in these practices so much that she wanted to share these practices as well and completed her 200 RYT vinyasa training at the Yoga Dojo in the spring of 2018. This busy lady is one of our regular weekend teachers. You’re sure to feel the love in Kathleen’s classes.
